Borrow deliberately, not desperately.

JY International Finance Limited is a money lender on Queen's Road East, operating under Hong Kong's Money Lenders Ordinance (Cap. 163). A good loan starts with a calm decision, not a rushed one — so before anything else, check whether you are ready to borrow at all.

Are you ready to borrow?

Tick what's honestly true. Nothing is sent anywhere.

0 of 6. Start ticking — honestly.

01

Think: do you need a money lender?

Money lenders cost more than banks, because we lend in situations banks often decline. If one of these solves your problem, use it instead of us.

Your bank

With a steady income and a fair credit record, a bank loan is usually noticeably cheaper.

A payment plan

Landlords, card issuers and utilities often agree to spread a bill if you ask before you fall behind.

Free debt counselling

Juggling several debts? NGOs in Hong Kong offer free, confidential counselling. Talk to them before adding a loan.

02

Compare: the flat rate trap

Many loans are advertised with a monthly flat rate. It looks small because it is charged on the original amount for the whole term — even after you've repaid most of it. The figure that matters, and the one Hong Kong law caps, is the effective annual rate. Convert any flat rate here.

Illustration using equal monthly instalments, computed as an effective (compounded) annual rate; fees are excluded. Not an offer. Under the Money Lenders Ordinance, an effective rate above 48% a year is illegal, and above 36% may be presumed extortionate.

03

Apply: directly, and only directly

Come to us — by phone, email or at our Wan Chai office. Never through a third party who charges you for it.

What we look at

Your HKID for identification, proof of address and proof of income — to see whether repayment is realistic.

What we never take

Your HKID card or bank cards to keep, your PINs or passwords, or any fee before a loan is granted.

04

Sign: everything in writing

These protections come from Hong Kong law and apply to every licensed money lender.

A written agreement

Amount, effective annual rate, schedule and total repayable — and a copy of the signed agreement for you.

A legal rate ceiling

Above 48% a year is illegal; above 36% may be treated as extortionate by the courts.

Never sign blanks

Don't sign anything incomplete or anything you haven't read. Take it home and read it if you need to.

Guarantors beware

A guarantor promises to repay the whole debt if the borrower doesn't. It isn't a character reference.

05

Repay: and talk early if you can't

If repayment becomes difficult, tell us before an instalment is missed — a revised plan is always easier to agree in advance. Whatever happens, collection must be lawful: no threats, no harassment of your family, neighbours or employer, no notices at your door. If any lender behaves that way, report it to the Police.

Four plain loans

No published rates — any figure printed here would be wrong for most readers. You get the effective annual rate and the total in writing before you decide.

Instalment

Personal loan

A fixed amount in equal monthly instalments, with a known final date.

Short term

Bridging cash

For a one-off expense with a clear repayment date — not for regular living costs.

Consolidation

Debt consolidation

One payment instead of several, but only if the total you repay goes down.

Self-employed

Owner loan

Working capital for sole traders and small businesses, judged on real trading.

Anyone can build a website. A licence on the public register is what counts. Do this for any lender, including us:

  1. Search the Companies Registry's public register of licensed money lenders.
  2. Check the exact company name and the licensed address match.
  3. Only deal through the contact details you've verified — and never pay before a loan is granted.

Red flags of a fake lender

Upfront fees for "processing", "insurance" or "unlocking" a loan.
Intermediaries who charge you to arrange a loan.
Requests for your HKID card, bank card, PIN or online-banking password.
"Guaranteed approval" with no questions about your income.

Questions

Are you a bank?

No. We are a money lender operating under the Money Lenders Ordinance (Cap. 163). We don't take deposits or run accounts, and our loans generally cost more than bank loans — which is why we suggest asking your bank first.

Why convert a flat rate?

A monthly flat rate is charged on the original loan for the whole term, so it understates the real cost. A 1% monthly flat rate over 12 months works out at roughly 23–24% a year effective. Always compare loans by the effective annual rate.

Do you work with loan agents?

No intermediary should ever charge you for a loan with us. Contact us directly. If anyone asks you for a fee to arrange a loan in our name, refuse and report it.

What if I can't make a payment?

Tell us as early as you can, before the due date. It's far easier to agree a revised plan in advance. Collection is always carried out lawfully.

What should I bring?

Your HKID, proof of address and proof of income such as recent payslips or bank statements. We look at them with you — we don't keep your identity card or bank cards.

Questions first. No obligation.

Call, email or visit us in Wan Chai. Asking costs nothing.
